A "linen shower" party was given yesterday , afternoon in honor of bride-elect. Miss Lucy Boyce, by Mrs. D. M. Jones at her home on North Highland street Trail was played at 12 tables, each table having the name of one of the towns in the county. . beginning at Gaston ia and "ending at Mayworth. After the game little Frederick Smyre. the handsome son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Smyre. appeared at the front door. : lie was ciad in blue unirortn and drew a child's express wagon in which was a large suitcase and a number of miniature suitcases, all checked to 1 Mayworth. The large case bad an immense bow of white satin ribbon on the' handle and was delivered to Miss Hoyce at the head table, which was named Mayworth. Each guest was given one of. the little suitcases and found it contained candy hearts. Miss Bovce on opening hers found it to be full of linen, beautiful articles for household and personal use. in-cluii-.n an especially beautiful linen luncheon set. the gift of the hostess. Yesterday there were sold by Mt Holly f 19.000 of 1 0-year six per cent bonds. Four teen thousand dollars were bonds of the graded school district and were taken by the Tillotson, Woolcott Com pany, of Cleveland. O., at a premium of $719. Five thousand dollars were town street improvement bona which the Citizens National Bank, of Gas tonia. took at 1100 premium. Work will begin at once on the treeta, and a pew graded school will be forthcoming to meet the increasing demands of the school situation.
